Texas Campus Carry!

It is becoming more and more likely that Texas Campus Carry will pass this session. This is a great idea for the safety of college students. There are allot of anti-gun arguments that I have found and I would like to elaborate on.

It would increase crime- Guns wont lead to more crime, the location doesn't change a thing, concealed carry statistically lowers the crime rate on every historical account.

It would "distract" from the learning envionment- Concealed means out of sight. Even if the guns were in plain view if a student is distracted by it I would question his/her ability to pay attention in the first place.

More students would kill themselves- The legalization of carry for protection will not change the fact that someone can still legally obtain a gun and commit suicide.

Leave it to the police, They have training- I would argue that crossfire and accidental wounding of innocent bystanders is a problem I would rather have than not have if there were an active shooter. If the police are so quick at containing a situation, why were there so many deaths at VT, Tuscon, and Fort Hood? Police are also not the only ones that can accurately shoot a gun. Many CHL holders have excellent shooting technique. Even if the person carrying isn't a good shot I would be glad to have a gun in the room on the good side of the argument.

Gun free zones are simply places where criminals know they will meet minimal resistance; shooting galleries for mass murders. The criminal doesn't care that there is a rule in place that doesn't allow handguns on campus. Criminals BY DEFINITION do not obey the law. It is sensationalized by the media that every student will have a gun and they will kill each other in arguments. This is simply not true. These would be the same people that are licensed to carry every day of their lives in Walmart, grocery store, and while walking the dog. These people do not cause problems they just realize that the world is not a perfect place. People get assaulted and some people would like the ability to fight back.

One last point I would like to make is for the people that say they would rather comply with their robbery, rape or beating, because "they probably wont kill me if I give them what they want". That would be totally up to the assailant now wouldn't it? What if what the criminal wants is... you dead?
